Do you have what it takes for lifestyle change?
In order to answer this question, let's first define what lifestyle change is....
Lifestyle changes include a change in habit and lifestyle. Your lifestyle is the way you live. It is the choices you make on a daily basis.
So, it is probably safe to say that your current Lifestyle Choices impact your health in positive or negative ways.
Most people look to diets to help reverse these negative impacts on their health in hopes that they will have better outcomes that they had before. Most diets consist of changing your eating habits temporarily. Diets generally focus on food intake to promote a certain outcome -- commonly weight loss -- before returning to your previous eating habits.
The difference between a diet and a lifestyle change is consistently making choices that become habits that are healthy and promote long-term weight control and health. Lifestyle changes incorporate what you eat along with other factors that affect weight and health, such as physical activity.
While diets may help you lose some weight temporarily, lifestyle change is the key to long-term weight maintenance and health.
Lifestyle changes are a process and requires support. Once you’re ready to make a change, the difficult part is committing and following through. Careful planning means setting small goals and taking things one step at a time. These are the keys to success.
This is where the expertise of a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is needed. I have the knowledge and experience to walk along side my clients to give them the education, tools, and accountability that is needed to make these lifestyle changes.
